Ranveer Singh’s 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' is rewriting the franchise’s own record books at breakneck speed. The film has become the highest-grossing Indian film in North America by surpassing the final tally of S S Rajamouli's 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion'.

The Aditya Dhar-directed film was released in theatres worldwide on March 19; within two weeks, it had grossed over $22 million (Rs 205 crore) in North America. It surpassed Baahubali 2’s previous record of $20.80 million (over Rs 198 crore). In third spot is 'Dhurandhar 1' with $20.65 million. 'Kalki 2898 AD' takes fourth place with $18.60 million, while 'Pathaan' rounds out the top five with $17.49 million.

The film collected Rs 25.30 crore net in India on its second Monday (March 30) and grossed Rs 8 crore overseas, taking its 12-day total to a massive Rs 1,392.23 crore worldwide.

The film set the tone with a record-breaking opening weekend, collecting ₹761 crore globally in its first four days. 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' has a clear two-week window at the ticket window, after which it will face competition from Akshay Kumar's 'Bhooth Bangla'.

Directed, written, and produced by Aditya Dhar, the film stars Ranveer Singh in the lead, alongside Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Rakesh Bedi, Danish Pandor, and Sara Arjun, among others.

Lyari wants share of 'Dhurandhar' earnings

Residents of Lyari in Pakistan have demanded a share of the box office earnings from 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge', with some even calling for up to 80 per cent of the film’s revenue to be allocated for local development.

The demand comes after the Ranveer Singh-starrer crossed Rs 1,000 crore globally, drawing attention to the Karachi neighborhood that inspired its story. In videos circulating online, locals argued that since the film used Lyari’s name and backdrop, the community should benefit financially.
