Consul Pragya Singh attended the second edition of the ‘Saree Goes Global’ event at Times Square, organized by Uma Global in partnership with India in New York. Women from the Indian diaspora and many other nationalities celebrated the saree as a symbol of heritage, artistry and women’s empowerment.
The saree is one of the world’s oldest continuously worn garments with a history spanning thousands of years, through its countless styles, drapes and fabrics which reflects India’s extraordinary diversity and artistic heritage.
The celebration featured a colorful walkathon and cultural performances, including Bihu dance at the crossroads of the world.
