Consulate General of India, along with the US Indian Community Foundation, hosted the unveiling of Swami Vivekananda’s statue by Ambassador Vinay Mohan Kwatra, followed by a discussion attended by elected officials, diaspora associations, and community leaders on June 14, 2026. The event featured a moving rendition of Vande Mataram and remarks from dignitaries.

Ambassador highlighted India’s rapid growth, positive socio-economic changes, and the expanding India–U.S. partnership. Ambassador and other speakers reflected on Swami Vivekananda’s enduring message of service, harmony, and unity of all faiths and religions.

The occasion honored the life, teachings, and enduring legacy of Swami Vivekananda. The USICF’s donation was a tribute one of India’s great spiritual leaders who introduced India’s ancient philosophy to the Western world through his historic address at the World’s Parliament of Religions in Chicago in 1893. His famous opening words, “Sisters and Brothers of America,” remain a powerful symbol of global unity and mutual respect, organizers said in a press release.

Consul General Ghosh expressed his appreciation to the US Indian Community Foundation for its generous donation. He noted that the statue will serve as a source of inspiration for visitors to the Consulate and stand as a symbol of India’s timeless values and civilizational heritage.
