Long Island, NY: As part of its ongoing commitment to community health and wellness, the American Punjabi Society (APS) regularly organizes health awareness initiatives, including educational lectures on important health topics, blood donation drives, cancer awareness walks, health screenings, and other programs designed to promote healthier lifestyles and preventive healthcare.
Continuing this tradition, APS organized a Health & Wellness Seminar on June 7, 2026, at Mint Restaurant, Long Island. The event attracted more than 150 attendees, including physicians, healthcare professionals, community leaders, business professionals, and members of the Indian-American community.
The keynote speaker, Dr. Tarun Wasil, renowned oncologist, hematologist, and author of A Healthy Triad, delivered a compelling presentation on the importance of preventive healthcare through what he described as the three pillars of wellness: Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Stress Management.
A special highlight of the seminar was the official launch of Dr. Wasil’s acclaimed book, A Healthy Triad.
Another special highlight of the event was the launch of GO Alkaline Water, introduced by APS President Gary S. Sikka.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sikka shared his vision of promoting healthier lifestyles within the community and noted that GO Alkaline Water is only the beginning. He announced plans to introduce additional green, organic, and health-oriented products in the near future as part of a broader effort to encourage wellness, nutrition, and preventive healthcare among community members.
Among the distinguished guests and participants were: Dr. Kanti Rai, the internationally renowned hematologist and oncologist whose pioneering Rai Staging System for Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) remains an internationally recognized standard in cancer care; Dr. Jagat Rawal, President, AAPI Queens & Long Island; Dr. Jag Kalra; Dr. Inderpal S.
