Modi holds 'fruitful' discussions with NSA Waltz, Intel chief Tulsi

Washington: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met newly elected director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard after landing in Washington, DC., on Thursday morning (IST). This was one of the first meetings among many in Modi’s packed US schedule, which also included a meeting with US National Security Advisor (NSA) Michael Waltz.

Sharing a glimpse of the meeting with Gabbard - first Hindu to head US intelligence - PM Modi said that he discussed India-US friendship with her and also congratulated her for becoming Trump’s Director of National Intelligence.

"Discussed various aspects of the India-USA friendship, of which she’s always been a strong votary," Modi wrote on X after meeting Gabbard.

Modi's discussion with Waltz covered areas of defence, technology and security as it also underscores the strong potential for cooperation in sectors like AI, semiconductors, space between both countries.  In a post on X, PM Modi said, "Had a fruitful meeting with NSA Mike Waltz. He has always been a great friend of India".

India's Ministry of External Affairs said PM Modi and Waltz had a meaningful exchange of views on deepening India - US strategic ties as well as addressing global security challenges.
