Washington, DC: President Donald Trump announced a one-time $1,776 “warrior dividend" for US military personnel, saying more than 1.45 million service members will receive the payment before Christmas as part of what he described as the economic gains from his tariff policy. He also claimed that his tariffs helped end eight wars.
Stressing that no one deserves the dividend more than the military, the US president attributed the funds to tariffs and one big beautiful bill, citing the country’s founding in 1776 as inspiration for the amount.
"Because of tariffs, along with the just passed one big beautiful bill, tonight, I am also proud to announce that more than 1,450,000 military service members will receive a special, we call, warrior dividend before Christmas, a warrior dividend in honor of our nation’s founding in 1776. We are sending every soldier $1,776,” Trump said while addressing the nation on December 18.
“And the checks are already on the way. We made a lot more money than anybody thought because of tariffs and the bill helped us along. Nobody deserves it more than our military. And I say congratulations to everybody,” he added.
US "hottest country in the world"
During his address to the nation this week, Trump listed his ‘achievements’ and claimed that the United States was now “the hottest country in the world”.
Slamming his predecessor Joe Biden and pushing the country to the “brink of ruin”, he said that his administration brought more positive change to Washington than “any administration in American history”. “Eleven months ago, I inherited a mess, and I’m fixing it,” Trump said.
He also targeted immigrants, blaming them for the housing crisis and economic problems. “Illegal aliens stole American jobs and flooded emergency rooms getting free healthcare and education paid for by you – the American taxpayer,” Trump said.
