Washington, DC: Hundreds of Indian Americans from across the United States will gather in the nation’s capital on July 25 for one of the largest celebrations of the community’s contributions to America as part of the country’s 250th anniversary commemoration.
The America 250 Indian American Commemorative Celebration, to be held at DAR Constitution Hall, is expected to bring together approximately 3,000 Indian American elected officials, business executives, physicians, entrepreneurs, faith leaders, diplomats, and community leaders for an evening honoring America’s 250-year history of freedom, democracy, and opportunity.
Organizers describe the event as a bipartisan celebration recognizing both the nation’s semiquincentennial and the growing role Indian Americans have played in shaping American society through leadership in business, healthcare, education, public service, technology, and civic life.
“This is an opportunity for our community to come together—not as Republicans or Democrats—but as Americans,” said Ramesh V. Kapur, co-chair of the America 250 Indian American Commemorative Celebration and founder and president of the U.S. India Security Council.
“America’s 250th anniversary is an opportunity for all of us, regardless of political party, to come together and celebrate the country we are proud to call home. Indian Americans are deeply grateful for the freedoms and opportunities this country has given us. This celebration is our way of honoring America, recognizing the values that unite us, and saying thank you to the country that opened its doors to so many of us.”
The program will feature a distinguished lineup of elected officials, former senior government leaders, business executives, physicians, and spiritual leaders representing a broad cross-section of American public life.
Among the confirmed speakers and honored guests are U.S. Senator Steve Daines of Montana, who will address attendees via video, as well as U.S. Representatives Raja Krishnamoorthi of Illinois, Shri Thanedar of Michigan, and Ro Khanna of California.
Also scheduled to participate are Arjun Mody, Deputy Commissioner of the U.S. Social Security Administration; Raj Shah, former Deputy Chief of Staff to Speaker Mike Johnson and former Principal Deputy Press Secretary to President Donald Trump; Ashok Pinto, former Assistant Secretary for Global Markets and Director General of the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service at the Department of Commerce; and Uttam Dhillon, former Acting Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration, former Director of INTERPOL Washington, and former Deputy Counsel to President Trump.
The event will also feature remarks from globally recognized humanitarian and spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Dr. Vivek Lall, chief executive of General Atomics Global Corporation, former NASA Administrator Dr. Michael D. Griffin, internationally respected physician Dr. Dattatreyudu Nori, and Dr. Amit Chakrabarty, president of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI).
The event is being organized by the Indian-American Committee, a coalition of leading national organizations that includes the U.S. India Security Council, Indian American Impact, the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI), the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA), The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), the American India Foundation (AIF), the Hindu American Foundation (HAF), Americans 4 Hindus (A4H), the American Hindu Coalition (AHC), the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA), along with numerous other community, business, and civic organizations.
