New York: The Jain diaspora across North America continues to honor its educational roots in India by extending remarkable moral and financial support to Jain Shiksha Pracharak Society (JSPS), Delhi—India’s oldest Jain educational organization, now celebrating 125 years of service. JSPS runs multiple schools serving more than 2,000 underprivileged students now annually, and its legacy remains deeply treasured by its global alumni community.
Among the most distinguished contributors is Dr. Sulekh C. Jain, a celebrated global Jain leader and alumnus of Hira Lal Jain School (Class of 1955). Dr. Jain, former President of JAINA USA and co-founder of the International School for Jain Studies (ISJS), resides in Las Vegas, USA. His wife, also an alumna of Lakshmi Devi Jain School (1955 batch), shares the same deep emotional connection with JSPS along with her sister Prof Anita Jain Singh (alumni of JSPS school). Reflecting on his roots, Dr. Jain stated:
“My journey began at Hira Lal Jain School, and whatever I have accomplished in life is deeply rooted in the values, discipline, and moral foundation laid there. JSPS shaped not only my academic path but my entire worldview. Supporting JSPS is my way of giving back to the institution that built my character and continues to transform thousands of young lives every year.”
A shining example of lifelong gratitude comes from two distinguished brothers, both alumni of Hira Lal Jain School: Dr. Pratap Singh (Class of 1958), retired from Siemens Healthineers, USA and Dr. Ishwar Singh (Class of 1964), retired Petroleum Engineer, USA. Both have supported numerous charitable causes across India and the United States. They attribute their professional success in the USA, spanning over 50 years, to the strong educational and ethical foundation built at JSPS schools.
The Society also acknowledges the continuing support of Adish Jain (Alumnus, 1952 batch) and Mrs. Asha Jain, who remain connected to their alma mater from the USA through generous acts.
In addition, the contributions of Dr. Jasvant Modi and Mrs. Meera Modi, USA, stand out prominently. A leading Jain philanthropist known for elevating Jain studies globally, Dr. Modi shared, “Supporting Jain education is not just philanthropy for me—it is a responsibility to preserve and elevate the wisdom and values that define our tradition. The work of JSPS stands at the intersection of compassion, education, and community upliftment. It is an honor to contribute to an institution that has shaped generations and continues to inspire the future of Jain studies.”
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the Society, Dr. Shugan Jain, Secretary, JSPS, remarked:
“The unwavering support from our alumni in North America reaffirms the timeless values on which Jain Shiksha Pracharak Society was built 125 years ago. Their generosity—both moral and financial—strengthens our mission to provide value-based education to underprivileged children. We are deeply proud that our students, no matter where life takes them, continue to carry forward the principles of character, compassion, and service learned at JSPS.”
As JSPS enters its next century of service, the enduring commitment of its alumni across North America stands as a powerful reminder of the transformative impact of education. Their collective contributions ensure that JSPS continues its mission of nurturing future generations grounded in knowledge, ethics, and humanity.
