The Consulate General of India in New York, in collaboration with Kolkata Chai Co., proudly celebrated 200 Years of Assam Tea at the Smorgasburg Festival of Tea on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Brooklyn, New York. This one-day festival honored India’s rich tea heritage and its growing impact on wellness and lifestyle in the U.S. through immersive storytelling, curated offerings, and tasting sessions of specialty teas from Assam, guests experienced the ritual, warmth, and legacy of Indian tea culture. Attendees loved the Selfie and Photo point featuring the tea garden background and also liked the ODOP items from North Eastern states from India, showcased during the tea festival. This is one of many events India in NewYork is hosting this year to celebrate 200 years of Assam Tea.
