East Elmhurst, NY: New York State Senator Jessica Ramos hosted her State of the District Town Hall on Friday, March 13, welcoming about 300 neighbors for an engaging conversation about the present and future of District 13. The event gave residents an open forum to discuss community challenges, share their questions, and hear updates on the Senator’s work in Albany.
During the town hall, Senator Ramos discussed key issues affecting the district, including housing, public safety, worker protections, childcare, and essential services. Neighbors learned about recent legislative efforts to strengthen protections for workers, expand access to childcare, improve housing and infrastructure, and invest in programs that support families and communities across the district.
“District 13 belongs to our neighbors,” said Senator Ramos. “Listening to our community and understanding their needs helps guide our work in Albany. Engaging directly with neighbors ensures that the policies we advance reflect what matters most to the people we serve.”
Senator Ramos also highlighted accomplishments from 2025, including legislation to support working families, strengthen workplace protections, and invest in local programs. She shared that several bills she sponsors are currently advancing in 2026, focusing on priorities such as affordable housing, expanded childcare, public safety, workplace protections, and fair compensation transparency.
The town hall reflected the diversity and engagement of the district, with neighbors from all backgrounds actively participating and sharing their experiences. Senator Ramos reaffirmed her commitment to continuing these conversations, listening to residents, and advocating for policies that reflect the real needs of District 13.
