Iran has warned that it could push uranium enrichment to weapons-grade levels if it faces fresh US military strikes. The warning comes at a time when diplomatic efforts remain stalled, and reports suggest Washington is weighing new options on Iran.

Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for Iran’s parliamentary commission, said the possibility of enriching uranium to 90 per cent purity could be considered in response to another attack. “One of Iran's options in the event of another attack could be 90 per cent enrichment,” he said in a post on X, adding, “We will review it in the parliament.”

US President Donald Trump has consistently framed Iran’s nuclear program as a central concern. He has referred to the country’s enriched uranium stockpile as “nuclear dust” and maintained that Tehran will not be allowed to develop atomic weapons.

“We're not going to let Iran have a nuclear weapon,” Trump has said. He also recently told reporters that the United States is “closely monitoring” Iran’s nuclear sites and warned that any suspicious activity would trigger a strong response.

The fragile ceasefire in the region is also under strain. Trump said earlier this week that it was on “life support,” after rejecting Iran’s latest counterproposal in ongoing talks.

Iran ceasefire on massive life support: Trump

US President Donald Trump said the fragile ceasefire between the US and Iran had only a “1% chance of living”, describing the truce as being on “massive life support” after sharply rejecting Tehran’s latest peace proposal.

Escalating his rhetoric amid growing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, Trump called Iran’s response a “piece of garbage” and said he did not even finish reading it. "I would call it the weakest right now, after reading that piece of garbage they sent us,” Trump said. “It’s on life support.” He compared the ceasefire to a dying patient, saying it had only a “1% chance of living”.
