Islamabad: In his first speech after being appointed Pakistan's first Chief of Defense Forces (CDF), Field Marshal Asim Munir issued yet another warning to India, claiming that Islamabad's response would be even more "swift, severe, and intense" in the event of any future aggression.

"India should not be in any delusion [as] Pakistan's response [in case of any aggression] will be even more swift and intense," Munir said as he described the establishment of the newly-formed Defense Forces Headquarters as "historic".

Highlighting "growing and changing threats", Munir said that it was the need of the hour to integrate all three services under the aegis of the newly launched Defense Forces Headquarters.

Emphasizing the evolution of modern warfare, Munir praised the resilience of the Pakistani people and the military's performance during Operation Sindoor, calling it a "case study" for future conflicts. Munir, who was promoted to field marshal after India inflicted heavy losses on the Pakistani security establishment during Operation Sindoor, is the country’s second field marshal and the first in over six decades.

US policy paper dismisses Pakistan

The influence of India is visible in the US' National Security Strategy 2025, in which Washington has positioned New Delhi and the Quad as key elements in countering China's influence across the Indo-Pacific region.

The roadmap is telling of the fact that, despite pushback from the Trump administration, diplomacy in strategic and security domains with India demands a very different approach than it did just a few decades ago.

Meanwhile, Pakistan, which has a single reference in the US's 29-page National Security Strategy document, has nothing to do with strategy but is about Trump's false claims regarding the wars he ended. The document has focused heavily on Asia, calling China the main strategic challenge and highlighting India's growing role in countering it.
