My life journey is a testament to the power of education, perseverance, faith, family, and the willingness to embrace unexpected opportunities.

My journey in 1975 from India to the United States of America has been incredible, like that of many immigrants. It offered new opportunities, experiences, and perspectives in my adult life which included, applying for a visa, saying goodbye to family, experiencing a new airport, city, climate, and culture. Even simple things like grocery shopping or using public transportation was like an adventure. Getting admitted to a university, securing a job built my confidence and getting my first apartment in New York City made me more independent.

My professional career in technology began in India, where I learned computer programming. I built my skills and experience over the years in the USA. I enrolled in every computer-related course available, embraced new technologies, mastered programming languages, databases, and systems design, and steadily advanced in the rapidly evolving field of information technology, progressing into leadership positions and ultimately serving as a Chief Information Officer (CIO). I am currently running an IT software company.

Beyond my corporate achievements, through my nonprofit organization, I have the privilege of giving back. I am thankful for the opportunity to contribute through community service and give back to the community that has supported me. My public service has earned significant recognition. In 2025, I was honored by the New York State Senate as a Woman of Distinction, recognizing my outstanding contributions to the community. Earlier, in 2013, I received The President's Volunteer Service Award from President Barack Obama for exceptional volunteer service and community leadership.

It is true that America is a land of opportunities and my journey has been filled with growth, and I am grateful for the privilege of serving my community and making a positive impact.

Looking back, I am deeply grateful to God for the countless blessings that guided me through every step of my new life in the USA. to my parents for shaping my character, to my husband Dalip Malik for his unwavering love and support, to my four children for making me complete as a woman, and to my friends for enriching my life.

Having come to this country in pursuit of opportunity and a better future, I am deeply grateful to call America my home, with my children, grandchildren, and future generations.
