Levittown, NY: This past weekend, the Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care USA (SRLC USA) Long Island center hosted a large-scale community service event at Levittown Hall, bringing together over 125 volunteers of all ages to prepare 1,800 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for donation to multiple beneficiaries across Long Island.
The event was organized as part of SRLC USA’s nationwide campaign to prepare 15,000 PBJ sandwiches in an effort to address food insecurity and support communities in need across the country. The Long Island center’s contribution of 1,800 sandwiches represents a significant portion of that goal, reflecting the deep commitment of its volunteer base to serving others.

Volunteers ranging from young children to seniors gathered at Levittown Hall, working side by side in an uplifting atmosphere of community spirit and compassion. Once prepared, the 1,800 sandwiches were distributed to 10 different beneficiary organizations throughout Long Island, ensuring the impact of the event reached communities across the region.
The event was made possible in part through the generous support of local sponsors. Target New Hyde Park sponsored the bread loaves needed to produce all 1,800 sandwiches and sent a group of eight volunteers to help with the effort on the day of the event. Soup to Nuts contributed 84 bottles of peanut butter to the cause. Their support underscores the power of cross-sector collaboration in addressing food insecurity at the local level.
In recognition of the PBJ community event and SRLC’s broader record of commendable community service activities, the organization was presented with an official citation on behalf of the Town of Oyster Bay. The citation was presented by John Sarcone, Deputy Commissioner of the Town of Oyster Bay, and Harry Malhotra, a community leader and public official in the Town of Oyster Bay.
