FIA announces India Day Parade on August 19


New York: The Federation of Indian Associations (FIA-tristate) held a kickoff event on June 28 at the Consulate General of India here for its 38th India Day Parade (IDP).

It was announced that IDP, the biggest event outside India celebrating India’s Independence Day in New York will be held on August 19 and the Grand Marshal will be Hollywood-Bollywood actress Pooja Kumar.

Srujal Parikh, FIA President who is a trustee of NYPD Indian police officers organization;

said FIA brings together diverse Indian cultures on one stage as well as women empowerment.;

Consul General of India in New York, Ambassador Sandeep Chakravorty, said in his address that he feels close to the motherland in American soil by working close with FIA and its members. He recalled FIA’s early history when Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru was invited to lead the parade that attracted a mere 300 people.

FIA Chairman Ramesh Patel and Media Chair Ankur Vaidya also spoke.

Chintu Patel, co-chairman of Amneal Pharmaceuticals, philanthropist, and Community Grand Marshal, also addressed the audience.
