Social workers can qualify for several financial incentives
New York: NYC Health + Hospitals on June 18, 2024, announced a new recruitment campaign to encourage social workers to join the health system. The $250,000 campaign is in English and Spanish and can be found in subway cars, on bus shelters in neighborhoods with social work schools, near NYC Health + Hospitals facilities, on social media, and promoted on Google Search. The health system aims to fill vacant social work positions across the system, including in Medical/Surgical units, Pediatrics, Women’s Health, Emergency Rooms, Crisis Intervention & B-HEARD, Acute & Ambulatory Behavioral Health, Primary and Collaborative Care, Correctional Health, and Virtual ExpressCare.
“From helping patients work through trauma to combatting substance use disorders, social workers are on the frontlines of our country’s health care crises,” said New York City Mayor Eric Adams. “With this new campaign, we'll help more New Yorkers find good-paying jobs, bolster our city's health care system, and get people the care they deserve.”
“Social Workers are central to our system,” said NYC Health + Hospitals Deputy Chief Medical Office and System Chief of Behavioral Health Omar Fattal, MD, MPH. “We are calling on social workers across the city to join our critical mission here at NYC Health + Hospitals. Together we can make NYC a healthier place.”
"This campaign reaffirms the system's value for social workers," said NYC Health + Hospitals System Director of Social Work Kara Simpson, LCSW-R, MSc "I am excited to see NYC Health + Hospitals taking this measure to recruit the next generation of social workers that will work with NYC's most vulnerable."
Social workers at NYC Health + Hospitals can qualify for several financial incentives, including: BH4NYC Loan Repayment for LCSW; Mayor's Graduate Scholarship Program; Social Workers NYC H+H - Local 768; and DC 37 Education Fund Classes: College Tuition Reimbursement.
