Actor Abhishek Bachchan will play the antagonist in filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh’s upcoming film 'King', which reportedly stars Shah Rukh Khan alongside his daughter Suhana for the first time, superstar Amitabh Bachchan confirmed.

The senior Bachchan shared a news report from a fan page account on X, wishing his son for the upcoming movie. “All the best Abhishek .. It is TIME,” he wrote on the microblogging site. The action scenes in the film have been choreographed by 'Pathaan' director Siddharth Anand. Shah Rukh and Suhana’s roles in the film have been kept under wraps.

Backed by Siddharth’s Marflix Pictures and Shah Rukh’s Red Chillies Entertainment, 'King', to be directed by Sujoy Ghosh, is set to go on floors later this year and is expected to arrive in theatres sometime in 2025 or early 2026.

Known for his films like 'Kahaani' and 'Badla', Sujoy last helmed the Netflix thriller film 'Jaane Jaan' starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma. These include Karan Johar-directed 'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna' (2006) and Farah Khan-helmed 'Happy New Year' (2014).

Apart from 'King', Abhishek has Tarun Mansukhani’s 'Housefull 5' in the pipeline, which will also star Akshay Kumar, Pooja Hegde, Riteish Deshmukh and Kriti Kharbanda.
