Indian-origin actress Indira Varma is the newest addition to the star cast of season 2 of the much-loved British spy-thriller series 'The Night Manager'. She joins Tom Hiddleston, Paul Chahidi, and Hayley Squires in the series based on John le Carré’s novel.
Hiddleston, who plays Jonathan Pine, is the only one confirmed to be reprising his role from the first season. He plays a luxury hotel manager who gets wrapped up in a crime syndicate conspiracy. In addition, 'Daisy Jones & The Six' star Camila Morrone had also joined the cast.
The new season, which will reportedly start filming later this year, picks up eight years after the first season. Elizabeth Debicki played Jed Marshall in the first season but will not return for the new season. Produced by BBC and Prime Video, the first season aired in 2016 and was later adapted in India with actors Aditya Roy Kapur and Anil Kapoor playing lead parts.
Born in Somerset, Varma studied at Rada and made her screen debut in Mira Nair’s 1996 film 'Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love'. The 50-year-old has several successful projects to her name, but most fans recognize her from her role as Ellaria Sand in 'Game of Thrones'. She recently appeared opposite Tom Cruise in 'Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One' and plays the duchess in the newest season of the Ncuti Gatwa-led 'Doctor Who'.
