Toronto: Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh, who is gaining prominence on a global scale, recently had a sold-out show in Canada where Prime Minister Justin Trudeau paid a surprise visit just before the concert began.

Diljit performed before a crowd of over 40,000 fans recently at Rogers Centre in Toronto and created history as he became the first Punjabi artist to fill up the venue. He took to his Instagram Stories to share a glimpse of his performance as a huge crowd could be seen cheering for him.

He also shared a video on his feed in which he got a surprise visit from Prime Minister Trudeau and the two shared a hug. Trudeau also met Diljit's team and crew as they made him and Diljit cheer the singer's trademark line, “Punjabi aa gaye oye” (Punjabis are here).

Trudeau briefly joined Dosanjh on stage and later posted on X that he had stopped by to wish Dosanjh “good luck" before his show. “Canada is a great country — one where a guy from Punjab can make history and sell out stadiums. Diversity isn’t just our strength. It’s a superpower,” Trudeau added.

Dosanjh responded, “Thank You So Much Sir... it was an Honour to Have You". The Dil-Luminati tour started on April 27 in Vancouver and concluded at the Rogers Centre in Toronto last weekend. The Vancouver show, where Diljit performed before an audience of over 50,000 at the British Columbia Place venue is believed to be the largest for a Punjabi act outside India. He also had sold-out shows at Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg and Rogers Place in Edmonton.
