RCHS honors Trustee of Rotary Foundation Aziz Memon with a special dinner reception

New York: The Rotary Club of Hicksville South (RCHS) hosted a special reception to honor Mr. Aziz Memon, Trustee of the Rotary Foundation, 2020-24, for his exemplary humanitarian services.  

The dinner was held at the Nanking Hilton Huntington, NY on Monday, October 14, 2024.  

Mr. Aziz Memon is a renowned industrialist from Pakistan. As a humanitarian, he has been serving as the National Chair of Pakistan for the Rotary International PolioPlus Committee for the last 22 years. He is also a Member of IPPP. He is regarded as the Sitara-e-Imtiaz for the Presidential Pride of Performance. His skills as a Social Entrepreneur under Rotary International are focused on education, health, and diplomacy. He is well-connected with the regions of South Asia and Africa focusing on cultural diversity, literature, trade and diplomacy. He also served as the Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Suriname in Karachi, Pakistan.   

For his philanthropic and humanitarian services, he has received numerous recognitions and awards. Notably, he is the recipient of the Louis Pasteur Medal by Pasteur Institute of France and the International Service Award for Polio-Free World by Rotary International. 

Mr. Memon shared with the attendees stories of his extraordinary journey as a fellow Rotarian expanding his activities across the globe for over 40 years. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to RCHS for its support during the devastating flood in Pakistan.  

The event was well attended by many members of RCHS, some distinguished high-ranking public officials, community leaders, and representatives from the Pakistani American Community who had extended their support during the RCHS campaign to raise funds in support of the flood victims in Pakistan.  

Distinguished guests and public officials were also present: New York State Senator Steve D. Rhoads; Nassau County Comptroller Elaine Phillips; Entrepreneur Mr. Michael Balboni. Community leader and the Past President of ICLI, Dr. Isma H. Chaudhry; AIA President, Mr. Gobind Munjal; the Director of Interfaith Outreach at NYS Senator Steve Roads Office & the Chairman of PACE, Mr. Saeed Hassan. Rotary PDG Mr. Ravi Bhooplapur and the RCHS Founding President, PDG Mr. Kamlesh Mehta, along with Past Presidents of RCHS, Ms. Roopam Maini, Mr. Rizwan Qureshi and Mr. Mizan Rahman. 

The event was arranged under the leadership of Club President Aleya Jung and Club Secretary Roger Singh.  

Mr. Memon was presented citations from the Office of Nassau County Comptroller and the Office of NYS Senator Steve Rhoads. The RCHS President honored him with a plaque of recognition, the Club Flag, and a copy of the Annual Gala Journal.
