Calls it ‘essential’ for attracting talent to maintain America’s competitive advantage
Schaumburg, IL: Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) backed H-1B visas following days of debate over the program. During an interview with CNN, Congressman Krishnamoorthi said he agrees with President-elect Donald Trump’s support for the H-1B high-skilled worker visa program. As the Ranking Member of the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), Congressman Krishnamoorthi stressed how important it is to American competitiveness to invest in our domestic workforce while also attracting the best talent from around the world.
“I think that this H-1B program is an essential component of maintaining our competitiveness,” Congressman Krishnamoorthi said on CNN this morning. “I happen to be the ranking member of the committee charged with trying to win the competition against the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). We can’t win that competition unless we retain, attract, and get the very best talent from around the world. That’s our number one killer competitive advantage as a country, and so we have to improve that.”
Congressman Krishnamoorthi has long been a leader in supporting domestic workforce development, comprehensive immigration reform, and the H-1B visa program. During his tenure in the U.S. House, the Congressman has authored a range of bills to reform high-skilled immigration while repeatedly calling for lifting the cap on the number of H-1B visas to draw even more talent to the American workforce.
