Commonwealth Games CEO gives Kalmadi 10-day deadline

Commonwealth Games Federation President Mike Fennell has set the Organising Committee (OC) a 10-day deadline to put their house in order. In an email interview with the Hindustan Times, Fennell also said that the corruption charges against the committee were a "major concern". "By
the time of my next scheduled visit to Delhi on August 18-19, we have asked the OC to secure a report from each of the government agencies responsible for the delivery of venues that provides confirmation that all regulatory approvals including fire, health and safety have been secured for each venue," he said.

Commonwealth Games : Heads start rolling with two suspensions, one resignation

Buffeted by allegations of fraud and scams, the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (OC) finally began damage control on Thursday. Two heads rolled, while a third voluntarily quit. In the afternoon, treasurer Anil Khanna, resigned his post following the Hindustan Times report that the
firm his son was associated with had been awarded the rights to re-lay the tennis courts for the Games.

Key aide of Commonwealth Games Organising Committee Chairman Suresh Kalmadi, TS Darbari may be asked to quit on Thursday after the inquiry panel submits its report. According to media reports, Joint Director of Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (CWG OC) TS Darbari has been found guilty by Indian Olympic Association's 3-member probe panel inqiring into the alleged corruption in the CWG projects.

Sports Ministry asks Kalmadi to sack his key aide Darbari

In what can be seen as increasing trouble for Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chairperson Suresh Kalmadi, the Sports Ministry has written a letter to him asking to remove CWG OC joint director- general TS Darbari.

According to media reports, the Sports Ministry has sought removal of Kalmadi's close aide Darbari and Kalmadi has said that any decision on Darbari will be taken after seeing the Sports Ministry's note.

Sachin Tendulkar becomes most-capped Test cricketer

Milestone man Sachin Tendulkar on Tuesday became the most-capped Test cricketer in the world after taking field for his 169th match, the third and final of the ongoing series against Sri Lanka, in Colombo. The 37-year-old champion batsman, who holds almost every batting record, overtook retired former Australian captain Steve Waugh with whom he was tied at 168 matches after the second Test at SSC here.
