Remains of William Shakespeare's first theatre found!

Archaeologists have found the remains of London’s first theatre in London yard — the site where William Shakespeare’s plays were performed. Archaeologists have been digging since 2008 and have uncovered a section of outer wall and floor surface from the building, completed in 1576 and known simply as ‘The Theatre’ — whose timbers were later used to build ‘The Globe theatre’.

Comedy fest at NCPA

The National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) Mumbai, launches its first international comedy festival, in collaboration with Lumiere Movies, from July 10 to 14 at Little Theatre, NCPA. This mini festival will screen a selection of classic comedies. “Some of the films Lumiere distributes are not easily available so it would be a unique opportunity for fans,” said Deepa Gahlot, NCPA’s executive director of theatre.

The movies being showcased include Gone With the Woman and The President’s Barber. The NCPA also plans to hold film festivals of other genres in the future.

Picasso work top sale at record-breaking British auction

A celebrated masterpiece by Pablo Picasso sold at Christie's auction house in London for 34.8 million pounds, in a sale that set a record for the amount of money made at a British art auction.

The "Portrait of Angel Fernandez de Soto", also known as "The Absinthe Drinker", is a 1903 work from the Spanish painter's Blue Period, and was sold for the equivalent of $51.6 million.

Septuagenarian holds wildlife photo exhibition

Tanzania born Indian, Kunj Trivedi, on Monday, put together his first exhibition in the city, after 17 years of dedicated wildlife photography.

Ask him what took so long and he replies, “Well, I never wanted to a professional wildlife photographer. It’s just a passion, a hobby.” Presently on at the Jehangir Art Gallery, Trivedi’s exhibition was inaugurated by Divya Bhanusingh Chavda, World WildLife Fund President of India.
