Jain Body To Stage Draupadi Play In NJ

New York: Jain Vishwa Bharati of North America, in association with Timeless Mahatma Trust of Mumbai, will stage "Draupadi’, a
mythological drama in Hindi on May 19 afternoon at the Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway, NJ.

Draupadi is a well-known strong character from the Mahabharata, and revered as one of the 16 Mahasatis – Great Women - in the Jain tradition. The play concerns the empowerment of women. The lead role in this captivating drama (with dance) is beautifully portrayed by the TV, theater and film artist Upasna Singh of Mumbai with a supporting cast of over 40. Sakhamitra Ashwini of Mumbai is director of this 3-hour play.
