Anna's rally for strong Lokayukta from today

Mumbai : After campaigning aggressively for a stronger Lokpal bill at the Centre, anti-corruption activist Anna Hazare will begin his campaign for a strong Lokayukta from his home state.

On Tuesday, the 74-year-old will start his five-week long statewide tour for public awareness about the bill from Shirdi.

The tour will end on June 6 in Navi Mumbai. "Anna will create awareness about a strong Lokayukta across the state by meeting people during day and by holding public meetings after 6pm. He will tour the state and will spend at least a day in each district," said Anil Sharma, Hazare's personal assistant.

Hazare will visit Jalna, Beed, Osmanabad, Latur, Parbhani, Nanded, Hingoli, Washim, Yavatmal, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Bhandara, Nagpur, Wardha, Amravati, Akola, Buldhana, Jalgaon, Dhule, Nandurbar, Nashik, Pune, Solapur, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, Raigad, Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai.

He will be in Mumbai on June 2, from where he will go to New Delhi for participating in the anti-corruption agitation organised by yoga guru Baba Ramdev. From there, Hazare will return and complete the last leg of the tour - Thane and Navi Mumbai.
