Woodbury, NY:  The SUNY Old Westbury College Foundation held their annual Leadership Awards Dinner on May 7 at the Crest Hollow Country Club here. The elegant event was attended by over 600 prominent people.

The goal of the Leadership Awards was to recognize a select few individuals who have committed themselves to leadership work and helping others. The awards, as per the college foundation, “honor distinguished area citizens and College alumni who enrich our community in distinctive ways — economically, scientifically, culturally, intellectually and socially — and whose efforts, taken together, are helping to transform the Long Island Region.”

He was presented the award by Dr. Calvin O. Butts III, President of SUNY Old Westbury, and Dr. Bhupi Patel, SUNY Old Westbury Trustee. Bhooplapur, a prominent Rotarian, graciously accepted the award and addressed the audience on what being honored with this award meant to him.

The other two honorees were Dr. Laura Anker, a distinguished service professor at SUNY Old Westbury, and Lionel Chitty, President of the Alumni Association at SUNY Old Westbury.

The SUNY Old Westbury College Foundation also offered a special Salute to College President Dr. Calvin O. Butts III for his work to continuously create an excellent atmosphere at SUNY Old Westbury and to make his college an excellent place for students to receive a high quality education.
